— Junior Fruit Tree Practice: Expressing Gratitude Through Maintenance on a Rainy Day —
Before we realized it, a whole month had passed since our last post...!
After days of relentless heat, today brought a sudden shift to rain. While outdoor practical lessons were put on hold, there is no point in complaining about the weather! A rainy day has its own distinct work to be done.
With that mindset, the third-year Fruit Tree majors gathered in the practical training room.
Deciding today was the perfect "brush cutter maintenance day," they set out to thoroughly care for the trusty equipment they rely on every day.
■ Thorough Maintenance for Our Reliable Partners
Swish, swish, wipe.
The session began with cleaning the air filters—which support the engine's breathing—and the fuel filters that ensure a smooth supply of clean fuel. The students calmly brushed away the accumulated dirt. Next came the spark plugs, the very heart of the engines. They meticulously polished the soot-blackened tips until they were clean enough to strike powerful sparks once again.
■ No Shortcuts, Especially Where It Cannot Be Seen
Squeeze.
They carefully applied fresh grease to the gear cases.
Next was replacing the nylon cutting cords, a task that directly impacts work efficiency. Focusing intently on their hands to prevent tangling, they wound the cords with balanced tension—turning smoothly until a crisp snap signaled everything was set. In the workshop, where only the sound of falling rain resonated, a quiet yet intense atmosphere filled the room as each student silently faced their machine.
■ Ready for the Next Blue Sky
With all maintenance steps completed, it was time for the final test: starting the engines.
Vroom, vroom!
A powerful exhaust roar echoed through the room. The trusty machines seemed to come back to life, as if saying, "We're ready anytime." Once the rain stops, the relentless weed control work will resume. But our students are ready. The equipment they carefully tuned with their own hands on this rainy day will undoubtedly perform at its best when the sun shines again.
Doing what needs to be done, rain or shine—now fully prepared.
Team Fruit Tree is ready to roll anytime!
