If you are reading this message, that means the English club was a success! We members of the club gathered, and, while exploring a cookbook from New Zealand, Jennifer Sensei introduced us to ‘Hokey Pokey’, a New Zealands sweet! Upon discovering this sweet, students seemed to light up with excitement! As such, we decided on the activity for our next week: Cooking!

　　　After that, we also played a board game called “Code Names”. In this game, there are two roles, so called ‘Spymasters’ and ‘Field Operatives’. Spymasters must give hints in the form of an English word, and a number. Using this hint, Field Operatives must find as many words associated with the hint on the game field as possible, without picking up any civilians or finding the assassin! The pressure was on, and students did exceptionally well, and had a much more robust English vocabulary than I thought!

　みなさんがこの記事を読んでいるということは、ESSの活動がうまくいったということですね！　今日の活動では、ALTのJeniffer先生がふるさとニュージーランドの料理の本を持ってきてくださり、様々な料理やスイーツを目で楽しみました。その中から先生が紹介してくださったのはニュージーランドのお菓子、”Hokey Pokey” です。早速、来週作ってみることにしました。生徒達も私たちも、わくわくしています！

　料理について学んだ後は、”Code Names”というカードゲームをしました。このゲームでは、Spymaster（スパイマスター）とField Operatives（現場諜報員）という２つの役割のどちらかを与えられます。スパイマスターは諜報員に「英単語１語＋数」のヒントを与えます。諜報員はそのヒントに関連した言葉が書かれたカードを、民間人または暗殺者のカードと間違うことなく、できるだけ多く集めなければなりません。プレッシャーがかかる中、生徒達はとても上手にゲームを進めました。みんなの語彙の豊かさには驚かされました！
