今学期最初のATⅠが始まりました。実は、 考査や入試などの関係で、３学期はATⅠの研究時間はわずか５時間しかありません... 　限られた授業時間ですが、今月末と来月には本評価（B2, C1） も予定されており、 計画的に研究を進めていく必要があります。各班、 班長を中心に先を見据えて動いてほしいものです。

　さて、ATⅠでは教室、理科棟、 家庭科室など校内の色々な教室で活動を行っているのですが、 今日は、地学室におじゃましてみました。というのも、ここは、 毎週この時間にはASⅠ（１年生）とATⅠ（２年生） が同じ部屋で研究を進めているという、 とてもユニークな環境だからです。ここでは、１年生３班、 ２年生３班が貝の粘着成分や自転車のスリップ軽減対策など、 それぞれ独自性のある研究に取り組んでいます。例えば、2 年生のある班は、身近な草花からの消毒液の作成について研究しており、現在は２種類の作成方法に取り組んでいるそうです。この班では１つ目の方法で作った消毒液を保存していたところ、残念ながら年末年始にカビが生えてしまったとのことで、今日の活動ではその消毒液の観察を行っていました。班のメンバーは上手く出来なかったので落ち込んでいるかと思いきや、カビの繁殖の違いから消毒効果が検証できないか協議していました。まさに「ピンチをチャンスに変える」です！

　２年生ATⅠとしてはしばらく学校外での研究発表は予定されていませんが、 年度終わりに現段階での研究の成果を共有し合う「ミニ発表会」 のようなものができたらと考えています。 あっという間に終わってしまう３学期。 限られた時間を有効に使って、班の仲間だけでなく、 他の班や先生方、学校外の専門家や機関とも関わりをもちながら、 研究の質を高めていってくれることを期待しています。

    It’s time for AT I again!  In fact, we have only 5 AT I classes this term, due to examinations and entrance examinations. With this limited time, students are expected to plan very well for the two evaluation interviews scheduled later in the term. 

　We might have told you this already, but AT I is held in various classrooms in the school.  Now we are in the Earth Science room, which is a very unique environment; AS I (first graders) and AT I (second graders) work together in one room. Here, at the moment, six groups are working on their own unique research projects, such as the adhesive components of shellfish and measures to reduce bicycle slips.  One group in particular has been researching the creation of disinfectant solutions from familiar plants and flowers, and are currently working on two different methods. In today's activity, they observed the disinfectant solution made by the first method, which unfortunately grew mold during the holidays. At first they looked a little depressed, yet they soon started discussing whether the disinfection effect could be verified based on the difference in mold growth. We were amazed to see they were turning a crisis into an opportunity!

   At the end of the school year, we are planning a "mini-presentation" at which students can share the results of their research with others. With the limited time, hopefully they can still find a way to improve the quality of their research -  not only by having discussions with their group mates, but also with other groups, teachers, and specialists and institutions outside the school.
