Students completed their first round of presentations in classes today. They were allotted 4 minutes for the presentation itself, and 2 minutes for a question and answer session. Students tried their hardest to fill the lengthy time, regaling classmates with fun facts of culture, foods, and travel destinations. And also utilized their brain to the fullest in memorizing their long, well thought out scrips in their entirety. 

　　Us teachers were also looking forward to the fruition of their work, wondering what resulting facts and new things they have come to discover through their research. Some student researched locations even piqued my interest, and ended up as new additions to my travel itinerary! Talk about outsourcing! 

　　As for tomorrow, the remainder of the students will present. Hopefully they can learn from today's presenters, and also have a fun time sharing their work!

　今日生徒が１日目の発表を無事終了しました。それぞれの生徒は、発表自体に４分、質疑応答に２分の持ち時間で、文化や食べ物、観光名所などについて発表しました。どの生徒も、同級生を楽しませるために時間いっぱい発表を頑張りました。また、時間をかけて用意した原稿を全部覚えるために、頭をフル回転していました。

　私たちスタッフは、生徒が研究でどのような気づきを得たり、新しいことを発見したりできたかということも含めて、生徒の作品をとても楽しみにしていました。ある発表はウイリアム先生の目にとまり、なんと旅の計画の候補にもしてもらえたようです。まるで「アウトソース」したみたいですね。

　明日、残りの生徒が発表します。今日の発表から学んだことを活かし、楽しみながらプレゼンテーションを共有できますように！

　ついこの間２学期が始まったような気がしていたのに、あっという間に中間考査も終わり（結果が返ってきています...）、２年生は明日から英語のパフォーマンステストが始まります。今回は”Country Research”というプロジェクトで、くじで引いた国についてその見所や興味深い事実を調べ、プレゼンテーションの形式でグループで発表するというものです。

　　今回は、各クラス８～10人の４グループに分かれ、各自のクロームブックを使って発表します。小グループでの発表なのでアットホームな雰囲気な一方、原稿をどのような形で準備するか、どのようなスライドが見やすいか等、大画面でのプレゼンはまた違った工夫が必要となります。もちろん、相手に伝えるための工夫、はっきりした読み方や、アイコンタクトなども忘れずに！

　今日の授業では、どのクラスでもスライドの見直しやペアでの発表予行練習など、熱心な（せっぱつまっている？）様子の生徒達でした。明日からの本番、様々な国についての個性あふれるプレゼンが見られることを期待しています！

　It feels like Term 3 started not so long ago, but mid-term exams are over and now it’s time for the performance test!  This time, students have been working on their “Country research,” in which they have English presentations on countries around the world.  When they picked a country by a lottery at the end of Term 2, many of them didn’t even know where the country was, or didn’t know how to pronounce the name of the country.  But now, after their research, what interesting facts have they found?

  In this performance test, students will have a presentation in their group made up by 8-10 people.  They might feel less nervous talking in groups, compared to presentations in front of everyone in class, but they need to plan their presentations with different aspects.  For example, they need to use their small chromebooks, so they need to make sure everyone in the group can see the slides clearly.  Also, they need to think of their notes since they can’t have digital notes while presenting.  Of course, they need to think how they can make themselves understood in English as well. It sounds simple but it’s not so easy to do that in a second language.  

   Students were working so hard in class because they know it’s coming very soon - tomorrow.  We’re looking forward to seeing your brilliant presentations tomorrow!
