— 2nd Year Floriculture Students: Flower Arrangement Workshop —
On Tuesday, February 24th, second-year students from the Agricultural Department specializing in Floriculture visited a local senior care facility. They served as instructors for a flower arrangement workshop, putting their daily studies into practice.
For this event, the students carefully selected and prepared floral materials based on a specific theme, planning every detail to ensure the residents would enjoy the experience.
■ Powering Practice with Lessons from the Welfare Department
A vital part of this exchange was the collaborative lesson held beforehand with our school's Welfare Department. Thanks to their professional guidance on "respecting others" and "eye-level communication," our students were able to connect with the residents naturally and confidently.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Welfare Department. Those lessons truly allowed "flowers of smiles" to bloom at the facility today.
■ The Difficulty of Teaching and the Joy of Connecting
After the session, students shared their honest reflections on the challenges and rewards of real-world experience:
* "Teaching while making conversation was harder than I imagined, but it was rewarding to stay smiling and create arrangements together at eye level."
* "Everyone listened to me with such kindness and smiles that my nerves disappeared. What I learned from the Welfare Department was incredibly helpful."
* "I got a bit confused trying to help multiple people at once. I want to learn even more about flowers so I can give smoother explanations next time."
While facing the difficulty of putting thoughts into words, the joy of "having a wonderful conversation" was even greater. The students learned the importance of heartfelt interaction, going beyond just technical skills.
■ Aspirations Nurtured by the Community
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the facility staff and residents for welcoming our students so warmly. The students' newfound motivation to "learn more" and "become experts" was sparked by these warm interactions.
With the support of our community, another lesson in the Agricultural Department has blossomed into a rich, life-changing experience.
