【ASⅡ/科学部】KSH「学びの祭典」/ A big presetation opportunity!
本日、ASⅡ(2年ASクラス)と科学部の計29名の生徒がグランメッセ熊本で行われたKSH「学びの祭典」に参加しました。まだ暗い朝6時半に学校を出発し、無事8時半頃に会場に降り立った生徒たち。到着後、早速自分達のポスターを貼ったり学校紹介ブースを設営したりと、それぞれの準備を開始しました。
会場では300以上ものポスターが分野別に並び、また実業系の学校を中心に実習製品の販売や体験などのブースも数多くありました。ステージでは書道や歌などのオープニングセレモニーの他、興味深い研究発表が行われました(午後からはくまモン登場の場面も!)。
学校や地域の特産品を高校生が発売しているところもありました。ジビエ(鹿肉)を使ったポトフや特産のきくらげ販売、企業とコラボして作った和菓子や実習で作ったウインナーや缶詰など、バラエティー豊かな品揃えで会場はにぎやかな雰囲気でした。また、VR体験やバッジなどの制作体験など、高校生も楽しめるような工夫をしていたブースも多くありました。
大きな会場でのポスター発表は初めての生徒も多く、最初はお客さんがくるのをただ待っている生徒も多かったのですが、少しずつ、自分から声をかけて発表を聴いてもらったり、聴いている人の顔を見て発表をしたりできるようにになってきました。他校の発表を積極的に聞きに行って質問もできた生徒も多く、今後の研究のヒントを得ることができました。また、発表に関して、ポスターへの工夫の必要性や発表時に実物を見せたり、聴衆の様子を観察しながら臨機応変に発表することの必要性を学んだりと、多くの学びが得られた1日となりました。
Today, 29 students from AS II and Science Club participated in the KSH "Festival of Learning" held at Grand Messe Kumamoto. The students left the school at early dawn at 6:30 a.m. and arrived around 8:30 a.m. Then they started preparing by putting up their own posters or setting up a booth to introduce our school.
There were more than 300 posters, lined up by field of study. There were many booths selling practical training products, while some others were offering hands-on experience. On the stage, there was an opening ceremony with calligraphy and singing, as well as interesting research presentations (also a Kumamon visit in the afternoon!).
Some of the school’s and local specialty products were sold there: A soup using venison, curry with wood ear mushrooms. They all looked so delicious! There, many other products were sold, such as Japanese sweets made in collaboration with a company, sausages, and canned goods made through practical training. Many other high schools were making efforts to attract people by offering VR experiences, badge making, and other hands-on activities.
It was the first time for many of our students to have presentations at such a large venue. At first, many of them stood still waiting for the audience to arrive, but gradually they were able to speak up and have their presentations heard. With more and more presentations, they became able to look their audiences in the face during their presentations little by little. Many students also had a chance to listen to other schools’ presentations and ask questions. Many of the groups seemed to have gained hints for their future research. They also learned of the need to improve their posters, to show what they use in their research, and to be flexible in their presentations while observing the audience.
