Hello everyone! 

My name is Maya, and I’m the new ALT from America. Losaline is the other new ALT, and she’s from New Zealand. We’ve learned that we’re not so different from Zoe and Jennifer, but we know we have big shoes to fill!

Our first month at Amataka has gone by so fast. In the first week, we gave our self-introductions in the 1st and 2nd grade classes and played a game called “Two Truths and One Lie.” The students were so friendly and excited to learn. I was really impressed! This week there was heavy rain, so not many students came to E.S.S., but we hope more students will join us next week.

There have been some fun surprises too. It’s much hotter and more humid in Kumamoto than I expected. The thunder is louder than anything I’ve ever heard in America. And I couldn’t believe it when I saw crabs in the school! That made me smile.

Thank you all for being so kind and welcoming. I’m really happy to be here and excited to make memories with you all this year!

みなさん、こんにちは。

アメリカから来た新しいALTのマヤです。もう一人のALT、ロサリネ先生はニュージーランド出身です。前ALTのゾーイ先生（アメリカ出身）、ジェニファー先生（ニュージーランド出身）とそれほど変わらないと思いますが、２人の後任として大きな責任を感じています。

天草に来た最初の１ヶ月は本当にあっという間でした。１週目は１・２年生の授業で私たちの自己紹介をして、”２つの真実と１つの嘘”というゲームをしました。生徒のみなさんはとてもフレンドリーで、学ぶことにワクワクしていて、本当に感心しました。今週は大雨だったので、ESSの活動に参加する生徒は多くありませんでしたが、来週はもっと多くの生徒が参加してくれることを願っています。

他にも楽しい驚きがありました。熊本は想像以上に暑く、湿気が多いこと。雷の音はアメリカで聞いたどんな音よりも大きいこと。そして、校内でカニを見かけたときは信じられませんでしたが、思わず笑顔になりました。

私たちのことを歓迎し、親切にしていただきありがとうございます。天草に来られたことを嬉しく思い、今年みなさんと一緒に思い出を作れることを楽しみにしています！
