今週土曜日に天草の小中高の生徒が一堂に会して、日頃の学校での活動を披露し合う「AMAKUSA DAY」が行われます。

当日は午前中に銀天街にて研究活動や各校の活動を発表する「研究成果ポスター発表会」が行われ、午後は市民センターにて「代表校（栖本小、御所浦中）の事例発表」やトークセッション（ファシリテーターは、ACNの爆旅道中記出演中のお三方です！）が行われます。

本日は「AMAKUSA DAY」に向けて、科学部有志がペットボトルキャップで何かを作成していました。

さて、何を作っているのでしょうか？

正解は「AMAKUSA DAY」当日にお伝えします。

　本日６・７時間目、本校体育館にてSSH中間発表会を実施しました。これは、毎年この時季に行っている行事で、２年生にとってはこれまでの研究活動の成果や今後の展望を発表する場、１年生にとっては先輩方の研究に触れ、数値などに注目して質問することのできる貴重な機会です。６時間目の冒頭には夏に実施したSSHシンガポール海外研修の報告が行われ、６名の生徒たちが南洋理工大学やスンガイ・ブロー湿地保護区、企業訪問で訪れたデンソーウェーブシンガポールなどの研修で学んだことを発表しました。研究の深化につながる様々な発見や英語での研修を通しての自身の成長など、盛りだくさんの内容で、１年生も熱心に聞き入っていました。

　その後、２年ASⅡのポスター発表、２年生ATⅠのポスター発表と続きます。まだ研究したい分野の選択を終えたばかりの１年生にとっては、先輩の研究発表を聞き、実験や調査の方法を知ることが、今後の研究の方向性を決めるうえで大きなヒントとなることでしょう。また、２年生にとっては聞き手を意識した発表を意識する機会となることはもちろん、これまでの研究を振り返り、今後やるべきことを整理する良い機会でもあります。今回の発表会では、まだ発表技術のつたなさやポスターの情報の不足も見られるものの、発表する２年生、聞く１年生、双方にとって学びの大きいものとなったのではないかと思います。この中間発表会で気づいたこと・学んだことを活かし、引き続きそれぞれの研究をがんばっていきましょう！

他校が発表する際には、質問を積極的に行いました。

ASクラスで学んだことを生かして、データの取得方法や処理方法についての質問が多かったです。

　7月10日のARP探究成果発表会を前に、本日よりステージ発表班のプレ発表会を行っています。今日のトップバッターはATⅡ（天草探究Ⅱ）選択者で、疲れの解消について研究している３年生のグループ。少々緊張した面持ちながらも、ストレッチ後の疲れの解消度合いや、アプリを活用した睡眠に関する実験結果など、丁寧に説明してくれました。早くもあと１週間で本番がやってきます。各班、グループで協力してしっかり準備をしていきましょう！

　The stage presentation groups are getting ready for their ARP (Amakusa Research Process) Presentation on July 10th. Today we had a group of 3rd-year AT (Amakusa Exploration), who are researching the relief of fatigue. They explained the degree to which fatigue dissipates after stretching and the results of their experiments on sleep using an application. As you can see, they’re a little nervous, but we’re sure they’ll be ready soon and have a wonderful presentation on stage!

   We have about a week to go before the big day. We hope everyone will do their best in the stage/poster presentations and also learn from other groups. Keep up your good work!

　本日午後、本渡中央商店街（銀天街）にて、ARP探究成果発表会「まちでみんなの発表会」ポスターセッションと口頭発表を行いました。一般のお客様もお迎えして、ASⅡ選択者とATⅠ選択者、それに科学部を合わせた計４７班のポスター発表と、卒業生のポスター発表、ステージでは２つの口頭発表を実施しました。

　来場者の方からは、「（商店街で発表会をするのは）面白い取組だ」「初めて参加したが、規模が大きく驚いた」「生徒の一生懸命な様子が見られてよかった」「色々なテーマがあって面白い」などと、温かいご意見をたくさんいただきました。時折みぞれも降る寒い中、発表を見にお越しいただいた皆様、ありがとうございました。

　今回の「まちでみんなの発表会」は、本校にとって初めての試みでしたが、天草市役所産業政策課の皆様、「まちはみんなの遊園地」の山田様（天草Asovivaプロジェクト）をはじめ、多くの方々が快く手を差し伸べてくださいました。本当にありがとうございました。来年もどうぞよろしくお願いします！

　本日のATⅠでは、明日のARP探究成果発表会「まちでみんなの発表会」に向けて、２年生の生徒たちは本番前のリハーサルに余念がない様子です。お互いの発表をってアドバイスしたり、担当の先生からの指導を受けたりと、どのクラスも１時間みっちり、はりきって練習をしていました。

　いよいよ明日！午前中は本校体育館、午後からは本渡中央商店街（銀天街）にて、元気に発表を行います。どうぞ、暖かくしてお越しください。お待ちしています！

　さて、２月最後のASⅡです！今日密着取材したのは「かびるんるん」班と「オーガニック」班。（注：前者はカビを扱っており、後者は有機栽培に関する研究をしています。）

　「かびるんるん」班は、寒天培地に生えたカビの正体を突き止めるべく、顕微鏡で観察をしているようです。聞いてみると、カビの種類を特定する最もメジャーな方法の１つとのこと。ここで判別できれば、研究の進展が期待できそうですね！

　一方、「オーガニック」班は、有機・無機肥料など、条件を変えてラディッシュの種を撒いた鉢を特製段ボールボックスに入れて栽培中です。一度このように日光を遮断して栽培実験を行ったものの、上手くいかない部分があり、絶賛リベンジ中とのことです。がんばって！

　このように、ASⅡの全８班、それぞれARP探究成果発表会に向けて忙しく活動しています。発表会の詳細は本校HPのほか、ポスターやチラシでお知らせします。（ついにポスターとチラシが完成しました。これからあちこち掲示のお願いにあがります！是非よろしくお願いします！）３月１９日の発表会をお楽しみに！

　 It's time for AS II ! Today we went to see the two groups called “Moldy” and the “Organic.”  As you can guess, the former deals with molds, while the latter conducts research on organic cultivation.

　The “Moldy” seems to be observing molds growing on agar medium under a microscope in order to find out what they are. They said that this is one of the most major methods to identify the type of mold. If they can identify it here,  it would help their research take a step forward.

　Meanwhile, the “organic” group is growing pots of radish seeds sown under different conditions, including organic and inorganic fertilizers, in hand-made cardboard boxes which block out sunlight. They once conducted a cultivation experiment, which partly succeeded, and they are now trying to do the experiment again. Good luck!

　Just like two groups mentioned above, all AS II groups are busy working toward the presentation of their ARP research results. Please come meet them on March 19!

　いよいよARP探究成果発表会まで１ヶ月を切りました！（※ARP＝天高探究プロセスの意。）先日お知らせしているように、今年のARPは天草高校からほど近い、本渡中央商店街にて行います。天草市民に昔から親しまれている「銀天街」が会場ということで、銀天街で毎月行われている子育て世代応援イベント「まちはみんなの遊園地」にあやかり、ARPも「まちでみんなの発表会」というネーミングをつけてみました。個性豊かな４９班が勢揃いの、楽しい発表会になりそうです！　平日ではありますが、入退場自由ですのでお買い物がてら、どうぞお気軽にお越しくださいね。

　さて、今日のASⅡでも、各班それぞれ研究に没頭している様子です。崇城大学の田丸先生にもお越しいただき、助言をいただこうと幾つもの班が順番待ちをしていました。（いつもありがとうございます！）ポスター発表班、ステージ発表班、それぞれがお越しいただいたみなさんに「伝わる」研究発表ができるよう、ぎりぎりのぎりぎりまで、研究&準備をがんばります！

    We are now less than a month away from the ARP Exploration Results Presentation. (ARP stands for "Amakusa HIgh School Exploration Process" by the way.) This year's presentations will be held at Hondo Chuo Shopping Street, not far from our school. It is the first time for us to have such an event in a shopping street, hoping to have people nearby come and see our presentations. It's going to be an enjoyable presentation with 49 groups with rich personalities! Please feel free to come and visit us while you are out shopping!

     In today's class, we had a visit from Prof. Tamaru of Sojo University, and several groups were waiting their turn to ask for his advice. The poster and the stage presentation groups will each work hard until the very last minute so that they would be able to give easy-to-understand presentations to people in town. 科学部化石班の3名が九州大会に参加しました。

これは先日の県大会で最優秀賞（3位）を受賞したことによる参加で、昨年に引き続き2年連続です。

今年は福岡県の福岡工業大学にて開催され、スライド発表部門に参加しました。

当日は早朝から出発し、猛烈な寒波と雨の中、ようやく会場に到着しました。

大会では、全体開会式の後に部門に分かれて、発表が行われました。

九州各県から選抜された16校を相手に、最優秀賞を目指します。

宿舎でも最後の練習が行われていました。

本校の発表は明日です。結果をお楽しみに！

　SSH中間発表会後、考査などでしばらく時間が空き、今日は久々のASⅡです。６時間目はA1、A2、B1の本評価を実施しました。生徒たちは教室でそれぞれの項目に沿って評価シートに記入した後、それぞれの担当者と面談型式で本評価を行いました。

　７時間目は冒頭で中間発表会の振り返りをしました。その後、生徒たちは今月21日にグランメッセ熊本で行われる第３回熊本スーパーハイスクール（KSH）全体発表会「県立高校 学びの祭典」に向けて発表用のポスターを編集したり、データを収集したりと、各班それぞれに久しぶりの研究活動に精を出していました。この「 学びの祭典」では色々な発表や催しが行われるのですが、一言でいうと、県立高校の生徒がステージ発表やポスター発表、学校での取り組み紹介などを行う県下最大級の発表会です。

　第３回熊本スーパーハイスクール（KSH）全体発表会「県立高校 学びの祭典」

　天草高校からはASⅡクラスと科学部を中心に１，２年生の生徒が研究発表や学校紹介を行い、さらにミニドローン体験会も運営することになっています。毎年多くの人でにぎわうこの「学びの祭典」、機会があれば是非足をお運びください！

　Today is the first AS II class after the SSH Interim Presentation, and AS II students had three evaluation interviews. After filling out the evaluation sheets in the classroom, the students met with their supervisors to complete their evaluations.

　The seventh period began with a review of the midterm presentation. After that, the students were busy editing posters and collecting data for “The 3rd Kumamoto Super High School Presentation to be held at Grand Messe Kumamoto on the 21st of this month. This is one of the largest presentations in the prefecture where students from prefectural high schools give stage presentations, poster presentations, and introductions of their school activities.

Prefectural High Schools: “Festival of Learning” 

　From our school, first and second year students, mainly from the AS II class and the Science club, will present their research and introduce our school, and also run a drone experience event. This “Festival of Learning” attracts many people every year, so if you have a chance, please come and visit us!

　天草高校では課題研究の発表会を１年に３回設けています。そのうち２回が校外の発表会で、３月の「探究成果発表会」と、７月の「探究成果最終発表会」です。（なお、７月の「最終」は３年生にとって最後であることを示しています。）そして、３月と７月の中間の時期に校内で行うのが、現在２年生（ASⅡ、ATⅠ）が発表準備に勤しんでいる「中間発表会」です。

　今日のASⅡでは、多くの班が発表のためのポスター製作に取り組む一方、「耕作放棄地」班はデータ収集のために、校外に出かけました。発表会までにもう少しデータを集めたいと考えているようです。目星をつけていた１つ目の候補地は、土地の所有者が熊本にお住まいとのことで断念。あきらめずに次の候補にあたってみます。学校から出てしばらく西に行ったところに放棄地らしき土地を見つけた班員たち。隣にある立派なお屋敷に許可をお願いしに行　くことにしました。ドキドキ…　少し緊張しましたが快くOKしてくださり、しかも、４、５年前まで稲を植えていたという情報もいただくことができました。背丈を超えるススキやセイタカアワダチソウが元気よく育っている、まさにお手本のような放棄地で、計測地点までの道のりもちょっとした冒険気分。いやー、これはなかなかの「インスタ映えする」活動になりそうです。

「うわ、蜘蛛の巣やばい！」「バッタがすごい！うわっ、蚊がレベチ」「めっちゃ刺された！早くヒモちょうだい！」「うわ、足が水没した」と、何ともにぎやかな様子で３箇所の計測が終了し、分析用に少し土もいただいて帰ってきました。これもひとえに、快く調査の許可をいただいた、土地の所有者の方のおかげです。AS活動は地域のみなさまに支えられていると改めて感じます。さて、アドベンチャー（？）を終え、無事帰校した「耕作放棄地」班。大量の蚊に刺され、やや疲れも見えたものの、「今日は頑張った！」と充実感でいっぱいの３人でした。中間発表会も期待していますよ！

   Our school holds three presentations of research projects per year. Two of these presentations are held in March and July, outside the school. The other presentation, called the “Interim presentation” is what the second-year students are currently preparing for.

　Today in AS II, while many of the groups were working on posters for their presentations, the “Abandoned Land” group went outside the school to collect more data before the presentation. They went to the first candidate site they had chosen in vain - the owner of the land lives in Kumamoto. They decided not to give up easily, and found a piece of land that looked abandoned after a while. They decided to ask permission from the owner of a house next to and the owner kindly gave them permission. Hooray! The abandoned land was filled with tall grasses which were even taller than their height. Well, this is going to be quite an “instagrammable” activity.

　“The cobwebs! Watch out!” “Grasshoppers, here and there!” “Mosquitoes are biting us!” ”Oh, my feet got wet!’ - they seem to be enjoying themselves a lot. After their little adventure to the abandoned land, the three students returned safely to the school. Although they were bitten so badly by mosquitoes and looked a little tired, they were filled with a sense of fulfillment, saying, “We did our best today!” Well done, students, we are looking forward to seeing their interim presentation too!

27日に行われる生徒理科研究発表系に向けての準備が佳境を迎えています。

生物部門に出場するホタル班は、担当の先生とのディスカッションを進めていました。

地学部門に出場する化石班は、最後の考察部分について班員同士で意見を出していました。

どちらも議論が進み、内容がまとまったようです。

　本日のASⅡは、２・３学期に行われる外部発表会に関する説明から始まりました。テーマを決め、研究計画を立ててはいるものの、まだ実験を行っていない班も多く、発表会までにどこまで研究を進める必要があるのか、発表会で何をどのように発表するのかがまだ具体的にイメージできない生徒も多いようです。

　しかし、十分なデータが揃い、仮説の検証が終わらなければ研究発表ができないというわけではありません。まだあまり研究が進んでいない今の段階だからこそ、発表会を単に発表の機会ととらえるのではなく、他校の研究から学んだり、外部の専門家に意見をもらったりして、自分たちの研究を発展させていく手段にする、というのも有効な活用法の１つとなるはずです。多くの班の積極的な参加を期待しています。

　さて、秋晴れの今日、水はけ（芝）班は、本校第２グラウンドで活動を行いました。この班は、夏芝の上に冬芝を植え、年中枯れない芝を育てる方法についての実験を行っています。現在は、夏芝の育成中で、１０月に冬芝を種類や植えるタイミングを変えて種まきして観察するそうです。今回は、冬芝を植える前の夏芝ができるだけ同じように育つようにメンテナンスを行っていました。

　読書の秋、スポーツの秋、そして研究の秋！　ASⅡの様々な研究が今後どう発展していくのか、楽しみです！！

     Today's class began with an explanation about the external presentations contests to be held in the 2nd and 3rd semesters. Although everyone in AS II has decided on a theme and made a research plan, there are many groups that have not yet conducted experiments. So, it is natural that many students are still wondering how far they need to advance their research before the presentation and what and how they will present it at the presentation. 

     However, it is not true that they cannot present their research until they have enough data and have finished verifying their hypotheses. Making presentations could also be a means to improve their research by learning from others and receiving opinions from experts. We hope many will make use of those opportunities!

　Today, the "Turf” group went outside for their research. They have been conducting an experiment on how to plant winter turf on top of summer turf, and grow turf that does not die all year round. This time, they were maintaining the summer turf before planting the winter turf.

　Autumn is the season for reading, sports, and research!　We look forward to seeing how students' various research projects will develop in the future!

SSH生徒研究発表会も、本日が最終日です。

昨日の指摘を受けて改善した説明を、より分かりやすくする模型も作成しました。

午前中の分野別の代表校のスライド発表では多くのことを学びました。

午後からは最後の研究発表に挑みました。

最後まで改善しようとする姿勢が見られ、この発表会で大きく成長していました。

いよいよ明日から行われる「SSH生徒研究発表会」に向けての準備が佳境を迎えています。

本日は、ポスターを印刷し発表練習を行いました。

昨日の調査で新しい結果を得たことにより、一部変更が生じましたが、何とか発表できそうです。

悲願の受賞を目指して、頑張りたいと思います！

　本日、８月２４日から実施するSSHシンガポール海外研修に参加する６名が事前学習の「ミニ発表会」を行いました。生徒たちは、これまで研修で訪れる訪問先についてそれぞれ事前に調べ、自分たちがASⅡで研究している内容やこれから研究する内容等についての研究計画書を日本語と英語で作成してきました。

　今回の発表会では、各自で調べてきた研修先の概要やその特色について１人５分間で発表を行いました。発表後に宮﨑先生から事前学習で学んだことのうち、特に興味を持ったこと、興味をもった理由、また、調べた内容についての追加質問がありました。今回の研修では、南洋理工大学での研修に加え、HSBC（香港上海銀行）で勤務されている方の講義や、離島や自然保護区内の湿地での生態系調査なども予定しています。生徒たちはこの「ミニ発表会」を通してそれぞれの研修場所についての理解を深めるとともに、どのような視点をもって学ぶか等について、ディスカッションという形で理解を深めることができました。

　天草高校ではこれまでマレーシアや台湾での海外研修を実施してきましたが、シンガポールでの研修は学校としても初めての挑戦です。早いもので出発まであと１ヶ月を切りましたが、今後も雲仙天草自然公園内にある白嶽湿地での実習を行ったり、自分たちの研究について英語で説明する練習等を重ねていきます。限られた準備期間ではありますが、研修でより良い学びができるよう、みんなで協力しながらしっかりと準備を進めていきたいと思います。シンガポール研修の事前学習や現地での研修の様子はこちらのホームページでお伝えしていきますので、お楽しみに！

　本日、天草市民センターにて、国立研究開発法人科学技術振興機構理数学習推進部先端学習グループ主任専門員の野澤様をはじめ、SSH運営指導委員である熊本大学の渡邊教授、崇城大学の田丸教授を来賓にお迎えして、Amakusa Research Process (ARP) 探究成果最終発表会を開催しました。

　午前中はホールにてSSH事業説明およびASⅢ（３年ASクラス）とATⅡ（３年理系・文系）各４つの研究班の発表があり、午後からは体育館でASⅢとATⅡのポスター発表、ASⅡ（２年ASクラス）の研究計画書の発表の後、ホールに戻ってASⅢの４つの班と科学部化石班の発表がありました。

　３年生にとっては最後の探究成果発表会となりました。各班、限られた準備期間の中で、聴衆を惹きつける様々な工夫を考え、精一杯発表していました。ステージ発表では聴衆が思わず笑顔になるような発表の工夫があったり、学年問わず多くの質問が出たりして、とても良い発表会となりました。保護者の方々や地域の方々にもご参観いただき、生徒たちの頑張る姿を見ていただく良い機会にもなりました。

　明日の終業式が終われば、夏休みがやってきます。AS・ATの授業はしばらくお休みですが、小中学生対象の科学実験講座である「天草サイエンスアカデミー」や天草や世界の環境問題について考える環境シンポジウム「アマプロ」の開催、３年ASクラス化石班が参加する、神戸の「SSH生徒研究発表会」、２年生ASクラスの「SSH関西研修」および「SSHシンガポール研修」などなど、SSH関連の行事が目白押しです。生徒のみなさん、夏休みも校内外で様々な探究活動にチャレンジしていきましょう！

     Today, the final presentation of the Amakusa Research Process (ARP) was held at the Amakusa Civic Center.  In the morning, we had explanations on what we do as a SSH (Super Science High school) followed by presentations from 8 groups. In the afternoon, we had poster presentations in the gym, then we had another 5 presentations on stage. For most of the 3rd graders, this was their last chance to do a presentation of their research results outside school. Each group had a limited amount of time to prepare for this big day, but they did their best to come up with a variety of ideas to attract the audience. We had some really great presentations, where the students made the audience smile, surprised, or even fascinated. Listeners were also eager to learn about what others had been absorbed in, and many incisive questions were asked by students of all grades. It was also a great opportunity for parents and community members to see the students' hard work.

　Summer vacation will come very soon, and many SSH-related events are waiting for us. First of all, we will be holding the “Amakusa Science Academy,” a Science Day for elementary and junior high school students in July. In August we will hold an environmental symposium named “Amapuro,” to discuss environmental issues in Amakusa and around the world. Also, we have many students studying outside Amakusa - some are taking part in “SSH Student Research Presentation” in Kobe, ‘SSH Kansai Study Tour,’ or ‘SSH Singapore Study Tour.’ The summer heat is rolling in and it makes us even more excited. Everyone, please enjoy yourself and keep learning during summer!

　本日のATの時間から、ついに２学年と３学年の生徒が同じ教室内で研究活動を行っています。これは、今年度からの取り組み（※昨年度、部分的に試行運用）なのですが、２・３年生が同じ教室内で研究活動を行うことにより、お互いの研究について学びあったり、アドバイスをしたり、質疑応答をしたりする機会を増やそうとするものです。本日は、環境が変わって最初の１時間目ということもあり、若干緊張したような雰囲気もありましたが、これからの活動で少しずつ交流をしていってくれることと思います！

　さて、本日の活動では、３年生はARP探究成果発表会のポスター及びスライド提出日ということもあり、どの班も必死で作業していました。早い班は発表原稿も完成しています。

２年生は各自で取り組んだ先行研究を持ち寄り、グループでこれからどのような研究をしていくのか、研究テーマについてのディスカッションをしていました。

　早いもので、探究成果発表会まであと12日となりました！　ATⅡも４班がステージ発表、22班が体育館でのポスター発表を行います。どのグループも、これまでの研究の成果を精一杯伝えてくれることと思います。是非、7月18日は天草市民センターに足をお運びください！

　From today, the 2nd and 3rd grade students in AT classes have started doing research activities in the same classrooms. This change has been made to increase the opportunities for students to learn from each other, give each other advice, and have Q&A sessions by conducting research activities in the same classrooms. Today, everyone was a little nervous as it was their first time working in this environment, but we are sure that things will settle as the students get to know each other and complete activities together.

　Today was also the day for the 3rd graders to submit their research posters or slides. All the groups were working very hard. Some of the groups had already completed their presentation drafts so started practicing. Well done! The second-year students brought in their previous research and had a discussion in their new groups about their future research themes.

　There are only 12 days left until the research results are presented. For this day AT II has 4 groups presenting on stage while the other 22 groups will be presenting posters in the gymnasium. We hope that all groups will try their best. Please come to the Amakusa Civic Center on July 18 to see their presentations!

　ASⅢが主役のARP探究成果発表会まで、とうとう２週間となりました。この発表会ではASⅢ（３年生ASクラス）の８グループがステージ発表、４グループがポスター発表を行うほか、進行や受付も含めた運営を２、３年のASクラスの生徒が担います。また、２年生のASクラスも３年生に混じって体育館での研究計画書の発表が予定されています。ASクラスに入ってから、初のプレゼンですね。

　本日の授業では、２年生は研究計画書の完成を目指して担当の先生や班員とのディスカッションを重ねている様子です。３年生はポスターやスライドを作成する班、最後まで実験で数値をとろうとしている班、それぞれ思い思いに（必死に？）１時間を過ごしています。泣いても笑っても、残された時間はあと２週間。ASクラスのパワーの見せどころです！

　We are now just two weeks away from the ARP Presentation, in which AS III will play a leading role. The conference, along with the MC and reception duties, will be run by the AS students. Eight groups from AS III will give stage presentations and four groups will give poster presentations at the conference. The 2nd-grader AS class will also join the 3rd graders ATⅡclass in presenting their research plans in the gymnasium; this will be their first presentation since joining the AS class!

　In today's class, the 2nd graders are having discussions with their teachers and group members in order to complete their research plans, while the 3rd-graders are making posters and slides, as well as trying to obtain numerical values from their experiments. Everyone spent the time in their own way. Like it or not, there are only two weeks left before the big days. Keep up your great work!

　本日のATⅡでは、授業の冒頭でATⅡ担当の中村先生から７月に行われるARP探究成果発表会を見据えた今後の活動についての説明がありました。ATⅡの生徒たちは全員、ARPでスライド発表またはポスター発表のいずれかで研究成果を発表することになっています。発表資料の提出一次締切まで授業時間がもう２時間しかないということに気づき、どの班もてきぱきとスライドやポスターの編集を行っていました。

　中には、実験や調査を行って不足しているデータを補おうとしている班もいます。銀天街の活性化を目指す「銀天街」班は、今月６月１６日に本渡中央銀天街で開催される「街はみんなの遊園地」で高校生向けのイベントを実施し、人通りの変化を確かめるそうです（みなさん、お待ちしています！）。オリーブを活用した研究を進めている「オリーブ」班は、自分たちが”実験台”となって、階段を上り下りし、運動前と運動後の血圧の変化を測定していました。

　探究活動も今年で３年目を迎える３年生。限られた時間で研究を進める必要があり、なかなか思うように結果が出ないときもありますが、どの班も班長を中心に活発にディスカッションを行い、仮説の検証に向けてがんばっています。７月のARP探究成果発表会では各班、これまでの研究成果をしっかり発表してくれることと思います。保護者の皆様、地域の皆様、７月１８日は是非、天草市民センターまで足をお運びください。お待ちしています！　

　Mr. Nakamura opened today’s ATⅡ with an explanation of future activities before the ARP Exploratory Research Presentation in July, where all ATⅡ students will present their research results in either a slide or poster presentation. Realizing that there were only two more hours of class time before the first deadline for presentation materials, students in all groups were “speeding-up” in preparing their posters and other materials.

　In class,  some of the groups were conducting experiments and surveys to get more data before their presentations. The group called “Ginten-gai”, which aims to revitalize a local shopping street called Ginten-gai, was planning an event for high school students in the Ginten-gai on June 16.  They are trying to see how the pedestrian traffic changes between the day with or without such an event for the young. The “Olive '' group, which is conducting research using olives, was up and down stairs and was measuring changes in blood pressure before and after exercise.

　This is the third year for the students in ATⅡ to participate in such research activities. We expect that each group will do their best in presenting their research results in July. Looking forward to seeing you at the Amakusa Civic Center on July 18!

　ASⅢの生徒たちは先週仮評価も終わり、久々にじっくりと研究活動を行っています。とはいえ、研究を進めるだけではなく、サイエンスインターハイのアブストラクト作成や、探究成果発表会に向けたスライドやポスターの準備など、やることがたくさん！　それぞれ思い思いに、かつ、着実に研究を進めているようです。

　さて、地学室では、久々にヘドロ入りバケツを手にした「汽水域班」を発見しました。採取直後に測ったBOD（生物化学的酸素要求量）と、採取して１週間たったヘドロのBODを比較することで、微生物の代謝活動を調べているそうです。その後ろには、「魚糞班」が金魚の水槽から魚糞を採取しているのが見えます。また、２年生に混じって「農業班」の３年生の姿が！　２年生の生徒にアドバイスしているようです（頼もしい！）。

　今日は、あちこちで研究活動をしている１２班全てを写真に収めてみました。みんな楽しそうに頑張っています。忙しい３年生ですが、研究も勉強も総体も総文もファイトです！

　After the provisional evaluation last week, students in AS III are enjoying their research again. Each of them seems to be moving forward with their research activities thoughtfully and steadily. However, that’s not the only thing they need to do - they also have a lot of other work to do, such as preparing abstracts for the “Science Interhigh” and preparing slides or posters for their presentations in July. 

　Now, in the Earth Science room, we found the “Brackish water group” with a bucket of sludge in their hands! They are studying the metabolic activity of microorganisms by comparing the BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) measured immediately after collection of the sludge and the BOD after one week. Behind them, the group “Fish Waste” can be seen collecting fish waste from a goldfish tank. Also, among the second-year students is a third-year student from the “Agriculture” group!　He seems to be advising the second-year students - how nice!

　Above you can see the pictures of all ASⅢ 12 groups doing research in class. They all looked like they were having fun and working hard. They are such busy 3rd graders, but they are all doing their best in everything!

科学部のサンゴ班、海水準班、化石班が生徒理科研究発表会に参加しました。

各班が、今までの成果を精一杯発表しました。

結果として、化石班が地学部門で部会長賞（5位）となり、12月に行われる九州大会に進出しました。

優秀賞となったサンゴ班と海水準班も発表会での指摘を参考に、今後の研究で頑張ってくれると思います。
