この度、天草高校は台湾・靜宜大学および國立中興高級中学とMOU(覚書）を締結しました。

　この覚書は、三校間の教育的・文化的交流を促進し、学生の国際理解及び友好を深めることを目的としており、台湾滞在中に靜宜大学校長の林思伶先生、國立中興高級中学校長の陳漢銘先生、そして本校校長で締結式を行いました。帰国後の本日、この覚書締結と今後の三校の交流・協力について岩嵜校長より全職員に説明がありました。これから教育活動において三校で連携をとり、交流を深めていきたいと思います。

　写真で岩嵜校長が手にしているのが覚書、隣の四角い盾が靜宜大学からいただいたもの、その隣の赤い台座に載ったクリスタルの盾が中興高級中学からいただいたものです。友好の印を大切に、今後ますますその絆を深めていきたいと思います。

　２年ASクラス各班の研究内容確定に伴い、今日の７時間目から２，３年生の活動場所が変わりました。今までは２年AS：地学室、３年AS：パソコン室だったのが、研究内容に合わせて３箇所の教室に２・３年混合で分かれています。このことにより、２年生は１年後の見通しを持って活動を進めることができ、困った時にいつでも先輩に助言をもらうことができます。また、３年生にとっても、新しい発想を２年生から得る機会となり、自分たちが研究を通して学んだことを継承していくうえできっといい環境になるはずです！

　本日は３年生の仮評価の後、研究活動と並行して２・３年生がお互いに自己紹介をしたり、研究活動について先輩からの助言をもらったりしていました。崇城大学の田丸先生にもお越しいただき、実験方法や結果の分析について相談に行く班も多かったようです。早いものでもうすぐ６月。７月のARP探究成果最終発表会では海外からのお客様も含め、学校内外の多くの方に向けて研究発表をすることになっています。各班、ディスカッションを重ねて、研究をより良いものにしていきましょう！

　From today, the 2nd and 3rd year AS students started to work together in three different classrooms according to what they’ve been researching. This change will hopefully allow 2nd-year students to proceed with their activities with an outlook for the year ahead, and to seek advice from their seniors whenever they have problems. It can also help the 3rd-year students to gain new ideas and pass on what they have learned through their research.

　ATⅠ（２年生）と同じ教室での活動も本日で最後。最初はぎこちなかった２、３年生も少しずつ打ち解けてきたところで、さみしい限りです。今日のATⅡは、３年生が２年生に対して「ミニ発表会」を行いました。各活動場所にて、３年生が天草市役所に向けて作成・提出した提言書の発表に加え、「課題研究３つの極意」と題して、３年間の課題研究を経験して学んだコツや２年生へのアドバイスを伝えてくれました。

　どの班もメンバーで協力し合い、持ち前のプレゼンテーションスキルで分かりやすい発表をしてくれました。下記は、いくつかの班の発表タイトル（※「　」内を考える形式）です。

　Today is the last day of activities in the same classroom as AT I (2nd graders). We will miss them! In today's ATII, the 3rd graders gave a “mini presentation” to the 2nd graders. In addition to presenting the proposals that they prepared and submitted to Amakusa City, they also shared tips and advice to the 2nd year students that they had learned through their three years of research, under the title of “3 Essentials of Research on the Subject”.

　After today, we will say goodbye to the 2nd-year students for a while. However, it does not mean that the connection between AT I and II will be lost. 2nd year students, if you have any problems, please come and consult with us anytime!

　早いもので、ATⅡも残すところあと３時間となりました。今日は特別時間割でATⅡが１時間目となり、何だかみんなそわそわしている感じもします。最初にSSH研究部の中村先生より来週の提言書発表会と今後の動きについてmeetで説明があり、その後は各班で来週に向けての準備を行いました。

　11月末に提言書提出を終え、３年生はこれまでの探究活動をまとめ、後輩に伝えていく段階に入りました。来週のATⅡの時間には、提言書および３年間の活動で学んだことの発表を２年生に向けて行います。本日は、来週のATで提言書とともに発表する、後輩の課題研究をより良くするための「３つの極意」を各班で考えました。活発にディスカッションを行いながら、「テーマ設定」や「外部連携」など、特に伝えたい３つの観点で具体的なアドバイスをワークシートに書き込んでいきます。

　授業の最後10分間は久しぶりの「わくわく交流タイム」。３年生の各班から２名ずつ派遣され、２年生の研究の悩みを聞いたり、助言をしたりする貴重な異学年交流の時間です。２・３年生が一緒に活動するのも来週で最後。３年生のみなさん、これまでの探究活動での経験や様々な「財産」を次の代の研究に引き継いでいけるよう、後輩のためにあとひと頑張り、よろしくお願いします！

　　　To our surprise, we have only three ATII classes left before graduation. After the submission of the proposal at the end of November, the 3rd-year students now start summarizing what they have learned through their research activities and passing them on to their juniors. Next week, the students will have presentations to the second-year students. Today, in preparation, each group discussed and came up with three key points to improve the 2nd-graders’ research projects. The students wrote specific advice on their worksheets based on the themes such as “Research theme setting” or “External collaboration.” 　

          We had another “Exciting Exchange Time” in the last ten minutes of the class. During that period, two 3rd-grade students visited a 2nd-grade groups' group and asked about their research concerns then gave them some advice. We hope these exchange activities will be a help for the 2nd graders, who are expected to deepen their research studies.

　突然ですが、みなさんは世界旅行に行ってみたいと思ったことはないですか？

　わたし（天草出身）はもちろんあります！　でも、最寄りの三角駅まで１時間超かかるし（むしろ「最寄って」ない疑惑）、熊本から外国に行く便も限られているし、何より、世界旅行って莫大な費用と時間がかかるだろうし…

　そんなあなたにピッタリの機会をご用意しました！　天草にいながら、ドイツ語の歌をドイツの若者と歌ったり、インド映画でしか見たことがなかった、思わず踊りたくなる生歌を聞いたり。南国のカラフルな民族衣装を身にまとったバヌ　アツの高校生と恋バナをしたり（！？）。

　それ全部、天草でできます！　

　下の写真は、全て本日10月22日に行われた「世界津波の日」にかかる天草交流でのものです。世界５カ国から天草を訪れた25人の高校生と、天草高校生が英語で（時には「心」で）交流を楽しんでいます。今回来天したのは前述した３カ国に加え、カンボジアとソロモン諸島のみなさんです。カンボジアの素敵な詩をシェアしていただいたり、ソロモン諸島の素晴らしいダンスを見せていただいたりと、しばし天高での交流を楽しみ、一行は諏訪神社へ。あいにくの雨でしたが、神社を訪問して日本文化やしきたりを体験したり、諏訪会館で天草太鼓を教えていただいたり。限られた時間でしたが、天草にいながら世界中に友達を作ることのできる、素晴らしい機会となりました。

神社見学に際してご助言賜りました大野宮司をはじめ、本渡諏訪神社の皆様、天草太鼓のデモンストレーションおよび体験のご指導をいただいた天草太鼓推進会の皆様、本当にありがとうございました。

　午後からサミット参加生13名は熊本市に向かいます。プレゼン＆交流がんばるぞ！

　Have you ever dreamed of  traveling all over the world?

　Of course you have, right? As you know, however, it takes us Amakusa residents over an hour to get to the nearest station, Misumi, more than three hours to Kumamoto airport, and above all, traveling around the world would cost thousands of dollars...

　Don't worry! We have prepared the perfect opportunity for you! You can sing German songs with young German people, or listen to live songs that you have only heard in Indian movies that make you feel like dancing. Or, you can even have a girls talk with someone from Vanuatu. 

　You can experience all of these in Amakusa!　

　All the photos below are photos from the Amakusa Visit today, which is part of High School Students Summit on World Tsunami Awareness Day. Our students enjoyed talking in English with 25 high school students who visited Amakusa from 5 countries around the world. The visitors were from Cambodia and Solomon Islands in addition to the aforementioned three countries. After sharing beautiful poems from Cambodia and a wonderful dance performance from the Solomon Islands, the group went to Suwa Shrine. We visited the shrine, experienced Japanese traditions with students from all over the world, and enjoyed Amakusa Daiko drumming together. It was a wonderful opportunity to make friends from all over the world while in Amakusa.

　In the afternoon, the 13 Summit participants from our school will head to Kumamoto City. We will do our best for the presentations and exchange!

    ジャジャーン！　見てください！！　今年度の世界津波の日高校生サミットにかかる天草でのスタディーツアーで使用する手ぬぐいが、ついに完成しました！

　この手ぬぐいは、サミット参加者の２年生の２人がデザインし、天草市の「紫谷染物店」様にお願いして作っていただいたもので、世界に唯一、オンリーワンのものです。シンプルながらも躍動感のあるデザインに使ったこの青は、イギリス王室の公式カラーでも使われる「ロイヤルブルー」という色なのだそう。紫谷染物店の皆様にはデザインの段階から仕上げまでお力添えをいただきまして、本当にありがとうございました。大事に使わせていただきます！

　いよいよ３日後に迫った22日の天草交流で、この手ぬぐいがお披露目されます。さて、どのように活用されるのか、海外の高校生の反応はいかに…！？　当日の様子は、またブログ記事でご紹介します。是非お楽しみに！

    Ta-da!　Look at our ”tenugui," or Japanese hand towel, to be used during the study tour in Amakusa for the High School Students Summit on the World Tsunami Awareness Day! This tenugui was designed by two of the 2nd-year students who will participate in the summit, and then made by a dye shop called "Shikoku Somemonoten” in Amakusa. The blue used for the simple yet dynamic design is called “Royal blue,” which is known as the official color of the British Royal Family. We would like to thank everyone at the Shop for their great assistance from the design stage to the finishing touches. We will use it with great care!

　芸術の秋！　２年生の生徒数名がせっせとコラージュをしています。外国の美しい建物の写真もあれば、神社の写真もあり、美味しそうなウインナーの写真と海鮮丼の写真がコラボ…

　さて、これは何の「作品」なのでしょう？

　実は、彼女たちがにぎやかにアートを楽しんでいるのは、地学室。このグループは津波の日スタディツアーにかかる22日の天草交流で、ドイツの高校生と交流することとなっています。そのため、ドイツで有名なものや、天草から紹介したいものをコラージュし、ウェルカムボード（お客様を歓迎するためのパネル）をせっせと制作していたというわけです。

　３日後の交流会では、ドイツをはじめ、カンボジア、インド、ソロモン諸島、バヌアツの５ヶ国の高校生が天草を訪れます。地学室には他国のウェルカムボード（絶賛制作中）も出番に備えてスタンバイ中です。天気が少し心配ではありますが、世界のあちこちからやってくる若者たちと素敵な交流ができますように。

　A beautiful autumn day! Several 2nd-year students are working hard on their collages. We can see pictures of beautiful foreign buildings, a shrine, delicious-looking sausages or a picture of a seafood bowl....

Now, what are these “works of art”?

　Actually, it is the Earth Science Lab where they are enjoying themselves. This group is going to exchange with German students on the 22nd, which is an activity planned as part of the World Tsunami Awareness Day Study Tour. They were making a welcome board with a collage of things famous in Germany and things they wanted to introduce from Amakusa.

　Three days later, high school students from Germany, Cambodia, India, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu will be coming to our school. In the Earth Science Room, welcome boards for the other countries are also being made. We hope that our students can have a wonderful exchange with the young people coming from all over the world.

　同じ教室内で、提言書（３年生）と研究計画書（２年生）にそれぞれ取り組む光景もなんだか見慣れてきた今日この頃のＡＴです。心なしか２，３年生の心の距離も近づいているような...？（だったらいいなぁ！）

　２、３年生の活動風景をカメラに収めるべく、ある教室にお邪魔したところ、ややっ！　窓の外に怪しい人影が！！　...よくよく話を聞いてみると、「外来種」の植物の研究を始めたばかりの、２年生たちでした。まずは、校内の外来種の植物を調査・記録しているとのことです。２年生の多くの班は教室内で研究計画を立てている一方、既に調査やアンケート、実験の準備などにとりかかっている班もあります。（これは11月の「中間発表会」も期待できそうですね！）

　さて、今日も授業最後の10分間で「ワクワク交流タイム」を実施しました。先週とは違う班・違うメンバーが２年生の各班を訪問します。正直なところ、話がはずんでいる班もあれば、両者とも恥ずかしそうに下を向きがちな班もあるようです。これから上級学校に進んだり就職したりする３年生にとって、自分の班以外の人や学年が違う人と意見交換するのは、今後につながる大事な経験となるに違いありません。この交流の機会は、今後も不定期で設ける予定となっています。２年生の研究が進むにつれ、さらに活発な意見交換ができることでしょう。先輩方、頼りにしています！

    We have become accustomed to seeing third-year and second-year students working on their proposals and research plans, respectively, in the same classroom.

　At one such classroom, while taking some photos of them, we see a ”suspicious figure” outside the window!　... Well, it turned out to be a group of second-year students who had just started research on “invasive species,” and they were walking outside for their research.  Surprisingly, while many 2nd graders are still planning their research, some have already started to conduct surveys, questionnaires, and prepare for experiments.  

　Today, we had another “Exciting Exchange Time” in the last 10 minutes of the class. Different groups and different members from last week visit each of the 2nd grade groups. To be honest, some of the groups seemed to have a good time talking with each other, while others tended to look down in embarrassment. Exchanging opinions with people from a different group or a different grade will be an important experience for 3rd-year students who will be going to a college or finding a job in the near future. We plan to continue to provide this opportunity for exchange, and as the 2nd-year students' research progresses, we expect to see an even more active exchange of ideas. We are counting on you, 3rd graders!

　これからしばらくの期間、３年生は「提言書」、２年生は「研究計画書」の作成に取り組むことになります。授業中の様子を観察してみると、２・３年生はどちらもドキュメントを作成しているのですが、３年生には活発にディスカッションしながら活動をしている班が多い一方、２年生には静かに活動している班が多い印象です。さて、異学年交流が進むことで、この状態に変化が出てくるのでしょうか？

　さて、授業の終わりごろ、満を持して（？）始まった「わくわく交流タイム」。ある班では、最初に軽く自己紹介と研究内容について説明をした後、２年生の研究について話を聞いています。「研究テーマ決まった？」「今、計画書どこまで進んでる？」「どうやって調査するの？」さすが、聞き上手な３年生、うまく２年生の言葉を引き出しながら交流会をリードします。「私たちは市役所の人にもらったデータを研究で使ったよ。これは発表で使ったスライドなんだけど…」と、ARP研究成果最終発表会で使った資料を見せながら上手に説明をしているようです。

　少し時間があるので、隣の班も覗いてみましょう。こちらでは、商品開発に取り組んできた３年生が熱く語っています。「…やっぱりね、どうやって数値で見せられるかが本当に大事。何回かデータを取って比較したり、自分の研究以外でも同じような研究があれば、そこから使えるデータがないか探してみたり。数値がないと、説得力に欠けるって絶対突っ込まれるから、まずは使えるデータをしっかり集められるように…」なるほど！　ポスター作成時などに担当者から「数値データは？」と繰り返し「突っ込まれた」実体験が、ここで活かせましたね！

　そんなこんなで無事（？）終了した、第１回の「ワクワク交流タイム」。最初は恥ずかしそうにしていた生徒たちも、交流の後半には自然と笑顔になり、中には時間が足りなくなった班もあったようです。かわいい後輩のために、３年生のみなさん、来週もよろしくお願いします！

    In ATⅡand Ⅲ, 3rd-year students will be working on their “Proposals” and 2-year students on their “Research Plans. In the last ten minutes of the class today, we had the “Exciting Exchange” time. During this 10 minutes' of time, two students of the 3rd grade are visiting a 2nd graders' group, and they will listen to the 2nd graders and answer their questions on their research. 

    Well, let's have a close look at one of the groups. After introducing themselves and explaining what they have done, the 3rd-year students are listening to the second-year students talk about their research. "Have you decided on your research theme?" "How far along are you with your research plan?" "How are you going to do your research?" -  The third-year students are excellent listeners, and they lead the meeting by eliciting the second-year students' words. The 3rd-year students continue, "We used the data we got from the city hall for our research. This is the slide that we used in our presentation...” - They are explaining while showing the materials they used in the final presentation of the ARP research results, which is so easy to understand!

　Now, let's take a peek at another group. Here, the 3rd-year students, who have been working on product development, are speaking passionately: “...I think it's really important to be able to show the results in numerical form. You should take data several times and compare them. Also, you may find some data you can use in similar research. If you don't have enough data to support your hypothesis, you will be criticized for not being persuasive enough, so I recommend you try to gather ALL the data you can...” - Wow! He is surely making use of his experience this time, and it would be a great help for the 2nd graders!

　So, this is what happened during our first “Exciting Exchange” in AT class. The students, who were shy at first, naturally started smiling in the latter half of the period, and some of the groups even ran out of time. Thank you so much, 3rd-graders, and please help the younger students next week again!

　本日のATⅡは、先週の討論会でのディスカッションを受けての各班でのブレインストーミングから始まりました。３年生は今後、自分たちのこれまでの研究の成果を地域に対する提案である「提言書」にまとめていきます。提言書には、研究で分かったことだけではなく、先行研究や他機関の研究や調査から得られたデータからの数値的根拠や、地域で実施可能と思われる施策、期待される効果までしっかりと考えて書く必要があります。提言書の１次提出締切は10月27日。担当の先生ともしっかりディスカッションを重ね、これまでの研究の総まとめができるといいですね。

　さて、来週・再来週のATⅡでは、「わくわく交流タイム」を実施します。これは、シャイな（人もいる）２・３年生が授業でもっと自然に話す機会が増えるように！という、ATⅡ担当者のたくらみ、もとい、優しさから計画されたものです。具体的に言うと、授業の最後の10分間でATⅠの各班に３年生が２人ずつ入り、研究計画書を作り始めたばかりの２年生のお悩み相談を受けるというものです。これまでの経験を活かして、２年生の今後の研究につながる助言をしてくれるものと期待しています。

　優しく面倒見の良い３年生のみなさん、２年生をリードしてしっかり交流をしてきてください。期待していますよ！

　Today's ATII began with a brainstorming session for each group after last week's discussion meeting. The third-year students will compile the results of their research into a “proposal” for Amakusa city. The proposals must include not only what they have learned from their research, but also numerical evidence based on data obtained from previous research and studies and surveys conducted by other organizations, as well as measures that could be implemented in the region and their expected effects. The group leaders were trying their best to lead the discussion on what kind of recommendations they wanted to make. The deadline for the submission of proposals is October 27. We hope that everyone will come up with a proposal that will make the most of the research they have done so far.

　Now, in ATII next week and the week after that, we will hold “Exciting Exchange Time”. This was planned to encourage some of the shy students to know each other in class. During the last 10 minutes of class, two 3rd-year students from each group will come over to consult with the 2nd graders who have just begun to write their research plans. We expect that the 3rd graders can offer useful advice that will help the 2nd-year students in improving their research.

　To the kind and caring 3rd year students, please lead the 2nd year students in class. We are counting on you!

　本日のATⅡは、次回行う討論会に向けて、これまでの研究をまとめるなどの準備を行いました。討論会とは、提案書の作成に先だって行う、意見交換の場です。それぞれの班が他班の生徒に自分の班の研究内容と、研究成果をどのように地域に提案するかについて発表します。発表を聞く班は発表に対して分かりづらいところを指摘したり、質問をしたり、提案の内容について助言したりすることができます。生徒たちがこの討論会を経験することで、より良い提案書作成ができるのではないかと期待しています。

　さて、本日の活動では、３年生には来週の討論会の流れとそれまでにすべきこと、研究テーマ決めのための話し合いをしている２年生には、テーマ設定の際のポイントの確認やAmataka Scholorの活用の仕方のアドバイスがあった後、それぞれ活動に入っていました。

　１学期末に「異学年交流」が始まって、今日で３回目のAT。少しずつ一緒の教室での活動が当たり前になりつつも、教室によってはどことなくよそよそしい雰囲気も感じられる２，３年生です...。でも、研究はやっぱり一人ではできません。自分だけでなく、班のメンバー、他の班の人たち、他学年の生徒との話し合いや教え合いを経て、きっと研究の質も向上していくはずです！　ATでは今後、２、３年生のシャイなみなさんのために、授業中の「ワクワク交流タイム（仮）」も設けようと思っています。これを機にぜひ、仲良くなってください！

　 In today’s AT, the third-year students prepared for the ”debate” to be held at the next AT. It will be an opportunity to exchange opinions prior to the preparation of proposals. Each group makes a presentation to the other students about their research and how they will propose the results of their research to the community. Groups listening to the presentations can point out areas that are difficult to understand, ask questions, and offer advice. We expect that the experience of this debate will lead to better proposals.

　This is the third AT since the “Cross-Grade Exchange” program started at the end of the first semester. While it is becoming natural for the students from the different grades to stay in the same classroom, we teachers know that it takes a little more longer for some students to get used to this new environment. However, the quality of research will surely improve through discussions and mutual learning among students in other grades! In the future, we are planning to have time for “socializing” during AT class. We hope you will get to know each other and make your research even better!

　本日、科学部９名の生徒が有明町の「岳（がく）ドローンスクール」で行われた、合同実技講習会に参加しました。

　これは熊本県立高校One Teamプロジェクト事業として行われている活動の１つで、ドローンに対する理解とその操縦技術を高めることで、課題研究及び授業・実習等における探究的な学びの充実を図ることを目的に実施されているものです。今回の講習会には、本校のほかに倉岳校、拓心高校、天草工業高校が参加し、天草の高校生が交流を深める場ともなりました。

　講習会では、インストラクターの先生からの説明とデモンストレーションの後、早速、教室でドローンを飛ばす「実技講習」に入りました。ドローン初体験の生徒ばかりで、最初は思う方向に動かせなかったり、壁にぶつかって何度もプロペラが外れてしまったりもしましたが、だんだんとコントロールも上達し、見事、設置してある30センチほどの輪をくぐることができたときは、歓声があがっていました。

　天草高校にもドローンがあり、ASなどの課題研究や科学部の研究で活用してきました。講習会で操縦技術を習得したことで、今後の研究の幅も広がるかもしれませんね。

　本日のATⅡでは、２年生の後輩たちが３年生の研究について質問に訪れる「質問タイム」が設定され、３年生の教室がいつも以上ににぎわっていました。２年生は、昨年度末に作成されたポスターを見て、研究内容に関する不明点や継続研究を見据えての質問を準備してきたようです。３年生は班員と協力しながら、１つ１つの質問に丁寧に答えています。中には、21人もの後輩たちが質問に訪れた班も！　緊張した面持ちで、最初はなかなか質問できなかった２年生でしたが、３年生が逆に２年生の去年の研究について尋ねたり、研究に関する意見を求めたりすることで場の雰囲気が和んでいきました。　　

 写真に写っているATⅡ４班（研究テーマ「バスの利用状況を調べて活性化に貢献しよう！」）には８名の後輩が訪れ、研究をするにあたっての課題点や、現在行われているバスの利用促進の取り組みなど、積極的に質問をしていました。

　２年生にとって今日の活動が貴重な時間であることはもちろん、３年生にとっても、他者とのディスカッションを通して自分達の研究に足りないものや、今後の研究の方向性が見えてくることでしょう。今日の30分ほどの「質問タイム」を経て、実際に様々な気づきを得た班も多くあったようです。週に１時間しかない探究活動だからこそ、１時間１時間の活動を充実させていくことが、きっと研究の深化につながるはずです。先輩、がんばって！

　 In today's ATII, our classrooms were more crowded than usual because of “Question Time,'' during which 2nd graders came to ask questions about 3rd graders’ research. They prepared questions beforehand by looking at their research posters. There even was a group which had as many as 21 visitors! The 2nd graders looked a little nervous at first and could not really ask questions, but the seniors gave them a warm welcome and talked to them with smiles, which gradually made the younger students feel more relaxed.　

    Group 4, shown in the photo (research theme: “Let's investigate bus usage and contribute to revitalization!), had eight visitors, who actively asked questions about the issues involved in conducting the study and the current efforts being made to promote the use of buses.

     Not only is this “Question Time” activity very meaningful for the 2nd graders, but it also helps the 3rd graders realize what they are missing in their research. Today, some of the groups found some research clues by talking with younger students. With this limited research time, making the most of each hour of activity means a lot.
